The SONA Digital Double Boiler is a digital double boiler that makes use of water insulated cooking technology to cook a multitude of dishes to perfection for 2-5 pax. Just simply place the ingredients into the premium quality ceramics pots provided and place them into the double boiler, along with water, and set to cook. The water will boil, transmitting heat evenly to the ceramic bowls, which will indirectly cook the ingredients inside, locking the nutrients inside the food. 

Handcrafted under 1300 degrees, the ceramic pot has a double locking mechanism lid that locks the ingredients in the pot, allowing none of the nutrients to be lost. Due to this design, the smell and taste of previous meals cooked in the pot will not affect the new dishes being prepared. Although ceramic pots conduct heat slowly, they have superb heat retention. An inner, recessed lid guards against evaporation, while an outer, domed lid keeps excess water out. Soup ingredients must be placed inside the ceramic pot, which is then placed in boiling water in the outer pot. 

The SONA Digital Double Boiler has a pre-set timer that will automatically start cooking the food at a predetermined time. You can place your breakfast ingredients into the double boiler at 10pm, and pre-set for 6 hours, and cook for 3 hours, letting you wake up to the smell of breakfast ready at 6am. Waking up a little later? The SONA Digital Double Boiler has an auto keep warm function, that will ensure the food stays warm until you need it.

What is Double Boiling?
Normal boiling is brought to a rolling boil over a high heat, before the flame is lowered and simmered for 3 hours. Double boiling is a much slower and more gentle process, characterized by submerging a ceramic pot within an outer pot of boiling water and the soup is not boiled twice.

This technique is said to achieve the maximum extraction of flavor with little compromise to the flavor or texture of the ingredients used. It is therefore the method of choice for coaxing forth the delicate flavors of shark fin, bird's nest or dessert, and for preparing nourishing tonics.

Cautions:
- Water level must be between minimum water level and maximum water level indications.
- Never immerse the body, which contains electrical components and heating elements, and/or the power cord in water or rinse under water.
- If the appliance does not switch off automatically after the water inside has dried off, add in some water or unplug the appliance immediately. Do not touch the heating plate.

How to Clean:
1. Remove all packaging materials and stickers.
2. Thoroughly clean the ceramic pot, steaming plate, and interior of the main body with water, some washing-up liquid and a non-abrasive sponge.
3. Wipe the body with a damp cloth twisted dry.

How do I use the accessories?
Use either the 2 small pots together or individually, or use the big pot alone. The steaming tray can only be used separately without any ceramic pots inside.

 
What is the material of the accessories?
Steaming Tray uses BPA-free Grade 5 Polypropylene, and the ceramic accessories are lead-free. 
 

Is there a pre-set timer for this appliance?
Yes, there is a pre-set timer up to 9.5 hours.
 

Can I adjust the cooking timer duration to my liking?
Yes, you can adjust the timer accordingly to the dish.
 

How many pax can it feed up to?
Depending on the individual's food consumption, it can be suitable for as small as a group of 2 people or as big as a family of 5.

 
How to use the appliance?
Select the desired cooking program; after a few seconds, the double boiler will automatically confirm the selected cooking program and start cooking. For more details, please refer to the instruction manual.
 

Any recommendations or suggestions on how long I can cook my food for?
There is no specific recommendation, as cooking time will vary, depending on the size, thickness and amount or type of food you are cooking. It is recommended for you to experiment and try out to achieve the perfect texture of your preferred taste.

Why does the appliance suddenly stop cooking before the cooking duration completes?
Please check there is water between the ceramic pot/s and the double boiler, if the water level is low, please fill up until the maximum water line.

 
Why does the appliance display “E0” and what does it mean?
“E0” means the water level is too low, please fill up to the maximum water line. Let the double boiler rest and can restart the cooking after resting. 

 
Does the appliance keep warm after cooking?
Yes, the double boiler will automatically enter keep warm mode after the selected cooking duration completes.
 

Why does the appliance display “EE” and what does it mean?
“EE” means the double boiler is in keep warm mode.  
 

Can the appliance be washed?
You can only wash the accessories and lid, do not wash the main body with the heating plate.
 

How to clean the double boiler?
Once it is cooled down, pour out the water inside the double boiler, use a damp, soft cloth to wipe clean all exterior parts of the main body and the heating plate.
 

How to wash the accessories and lid?
For easier removal of any oil or food stains, soak the ceramic pots/steaming tray with detergent and warm water first. After that, use a soft gentle sponge and scrub the ceramic pots/steaming tray. Please do not use any sharp, metal or abrasive sponge to scrub and wash. For more details, please refer to Instructions Manual.
 

Why are there scratches on the accessories?
This may be due to not gentle washing or scratching of the accessories or using some sharp or metal or abrasive item while cooking or scrubbing to wash. Therefore, please handle appliances with care and be as gentle as possible.  Avoid any metal or abrasive sharp items from coming in contact with the cooking pot, be it for cooking or washing.
 

Can the accessories be used over the stove?
No, these accessories are only meant for the use of this appliance itself and should not be used anywhere else.
